First order of business was for the class and teacher to select the scarecrow's outfit. There were quite a few to choose from in a variety of stunning ensembles. Then the legs crew began and stuffed the pants. They grabbed hay from some donated hay bales (thank you Gamble family!) and got to work! After stuffing, they ties off the leg ends.
Then the torso crew took over. They stuffed the chest and arms of the scarecrow, making sure to leave a little straw poking out from where they tied off the wrists.
While all of this activity was going on, we had our head crew designing the faces on the scarecrow. And last but certainly not least, the accessorizing crew moved in. Having a jewelry box of baubles and trinkets to choose from, they made sure our scarecrows had some great scarves, earrings, necklaces, and bracelets to show off and looked ready for a Thanksgiving party.
Finally, here are some of the awesome scarecrows put together by our Gardening Titans.
Looking good, Marcus!
Hey, Joe Bob. Quite a crew you have there.
Hi Farmer Joe Burton. You don't happen to be related to a certain 4th grade teacher, do you?
Thanks to all of the teachers and students for being great scarecrow builders.
